Microchipping
“The simplest, kindest and easiest method of identifying your pet...”
Microchipping your pet only takes moments but gives them lifelong registration with a tamper proof means of identification should your pet ever get lost or stolen. The tiny inert chip cannot be altered or lost and it is a safe and relatively painless procedure; some animals do not even notice it being implanted. The Pet-Detect ISO chips we use are one of the smallest around.
If the unthinkable happens and your pet gets lost – a vet, rescue centre or dog warden will use a small hand-held scanner to detect the microchip number. This number is registered with PetLog, the national central database run by the Kennel Club, who will hold your details to reunite you with your pet. For further information about PetLog please go to: www.petlog.org.uk You will have lifelong registration included in the microchipping fee but you may wish to read about upgrading to PetLog premium service for a one off fee of £11.50.
The minimum age for a small breed to be microchipped is 10 - 12 weeks old. If it is a large breed, it will have more body ‘bulk’ and can be chipped at a minimum of 8 weeks. Animals we microchip must be healthy and not suffering from any illness or skin disorder - if you have any concern about this it is best to ask your vet to chip your pet. We can only chip non-aggressive dogs, cats, rabbits & ferrets. Horses, reptiles and birds etc. must be done by a vet.
Price is £18 per pet which includes lifelong registration & peace of mind!
